As a team we recognise the powerful and critical role that volunteers have within the project. We appreciate our volunteers who give up their invaluable time to support youth workers in the delivery of core programs that empower young people to reach their fullest potential.
Volunteers who engage in the project are fully committed to achieving outcomes and supporting development for young people who engage in the service. Volunteers are given the opportunity to engage in supervision and there is opportunity to progress and further develop skills in the sector.
Benefits of being a volunteer:
What is expected of a volunteer?
We encourage our volunteers to be enthusiastic, interested in the empowerment & development of young people and able to commit at least 2 hours a week consistently for a set period of time. Young people require consistency in their own lives, as well as plans and agreements to be upheld. We would encourage anyone interested in volunteering to engage in a short-term plan of 4-6 weeks alongside young people. This creates great opportunity for learning by seeing a program through to the end, but also provides the young people with a guaranteed level of consitency that meets their needs.
One Last Thing:
Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity to gain new skills, learn from other professionals in the field & gather more information about the youth justice & youth work sector as a whole. Opportunities to grow, learn and develop are always encouraged in KWYP and we will strive to provide the best possible service & support during your time here. Volunteers are highly valued in KWYP as we understand your time is invaluable. From all in KWYP we would like to wish you the very best and hope you consider joining a small team in creating everlasting change in young people's lives.
